The education sector has been growing rapidly all over India. Earlier high literacy was considered to be only in Southern India, but tough competition has made it possible for the same in many other parts. Schools are not the same any more as they were a decade ago. Quality education, experienced faculty, modern technologies, extra-curricular activities are just a few of the major additions in the education sector.

Gurgaon, located 19.9 miles south-west of New Delhi has an abundance of schools, especially in Sohna Road, within the vicinity of two major highways - Gurgaon Expressway (NH-8) and the upcoming Kundli-Manesar-Palwal (KMP) Expressway.

With exposure to international standards, there are schools offering various specialties. Listed below are a few types of Schools in Gurgaon.

• CBSE schools.
• International schools,  I.G.C.S.E., International Baccalaureate.
• ICSE schools, I.G.C.S.E., International Baccalaureate.
• Other Boards schools.
• State board schools (Haryana Board).

Many of these Schools in Gurgaon apart from providing quality education also provide sports facilities including Cricket, Badminton and Volleyball. They also provide arts and crafts classes, pick up & drop facilities, regular and boarding schools, air conditioned classes, and Smart classroom aids. Some schools also have swimming pools and horse riding activity. Apart from these, dance and music classes are also available to those who are interested in music. For those who are interested in health, some schools have gymnasiums too.

The fee structure varies from school to school depending on the syllabus, facilities and whether the school is regular or boarding. However, the minimum average fee is around Rs. 3000/- per month.

There are schools in Sohna road which accept admissions from age 3, and others which admit only age 4 onwards. The average student – teacher ratio is around 30:1. It’s always good to opt for a school which has the ratio at a lower level so that equal focus can be given to all the students in the batch.

Most Schools in Sohna Road have classes till 12th. So, if one admits his or her child in the nursery section of a school, he/she needn’t worry till the child passes 12th.

Nowadays, almost every school has its own website. Parents can check out the websites to get detailed information on the school before deciding whether to enroll the child in that specific school or not. Though, it is recommended to personally visit the school if possible to talk to parents, teachers, principle and students to get the real feel of the school and understand if the school would meet your child’s capabilities or not. A personal visit would also give information about the fee structure of the schools (Most schools do not provide the fee amount in their website).

There are select schools which offer day care facilities for children of working parents. Some schools also arrange foreign trips for their meritorious students under the education and cultural exchange programs with other countries including the United States of America.

Gugaon is a city which has developed to a huge extent in recent years and is still growing. A child who gets education in Gurgaon is assured of getting education which is at par with other metro cities in India. Moreover, with the presence of many MNCs, once your child grows up, he/she can get a job in the same city.
